acoustic insulation

Hi: whats the best type of ACOUSTIC INSULATION for a pair of large home made altec 2 way corner cabinets 515 & 802 and how many sides should it be on?

"Best" is application dependent. 1" acoustic fiberglass insulation will work well down to ~250Hz, so it's good for parallel walls < ~27.12" apart. 3.5"/~125Hz/~54.24". Obviously, different density materials need different amounts, so the name of the game is experiment with whatever your preference is, such as polyfil or Miraflex, and use the minium required that sounds good to you.

Normally, just the top, one wall and back would be covered, but for longer dims then either both parallel surfaces or double layer one boundary. The one exception is the boundary near the vent, it should normally only be damped when there's audible 'ringing' due to peaking at Fb. Try it to hear if it improves it or not though since some folks prefer overdamped alignments.
